Secure Self Care
Intentionally affirming talk therapy for queer folks who seek to live authentically with chronic illness
Living authentically is a radical act of self-love
Your body and mind provide a home to the multitudes of your identity. You're neurodivergent, LGBTQIA2+, kinky, consensually non-monogamous (CNM/ENM) and/or polyamorous and you're chronically ill. This reality can feel like a lot to hold.
For the comfort of others or to decrease your own overwhelm, you may feel the need to mask. This compromise is an effort to decrease friction as you move through the world. It often comes at the cost of fracturing your authentic self.
A life of chosen, intentional expansiveness is possible. You will encounter seasons of profound adversity, but it's a life-giving pursuit that honors your wholeness. A therapist who truly respects and understands you can be a transformative part of your perennially unfolding self-discovery.

Hey there, I'm Staci

I believe in the deep resilience of people. I welcome you in every season of your lived experience; you don't need a diagnosis or
certainty about how you identify for us to begin our work together.
-
Collaboration: As your therapist, I offer a responsive partnership to cultivate your capacity for innovative adaptation that aligns with all of you.
-
Adaptation: With attachment theory as a gentle guide, we co-create a style of therapy that feels most resonant for you. This process is a dynamic conversation, not a rigid plan.
-

I created this practice for you
My practice is the direct result of the paths I’ve chosen, those life chose for me, and those my clients have shown me over the past 15 years.
The Path I Chose
-
My work began with a deep commitment to supporting neurodivergent kids and their families in specialized preschool and inpatient psychiatric care settings, as well as in community-based mental health where I ran social skills groups, parent support groups, and provided individual and family therapy.
Life Steps In
-
My own experience with chronic illness changed my perspective. I saw the unique challenges that arise when a body doesn't work as expected. To incorporate this new normal, I relied on the skills I developed for my ND clients. This catalyzed my passion for empowering those with chronic illness.
Embracing the New Landscape
-
An unexpected pattern emerged: Many folks seeking chronic illness support also lived with ADHD, Autism - or both! This blended focus became my specialty.
Intersectional Adventure
-
As I created an attuned space, I came to realize other aspects of identity were present in many of the stories folks shared with me: they often identified within the LGBTQIA2+ community, as kinky, and/or embraced alternative relationship structures.
This fortuitous confluence of being gave rise to Secure Self Care. I offer this nuanced support from a place of deep kinship, knowing firsthand what it means to navigate the world while holding these parts of yourself.
I see therapy as a living, responsive process, and I am excited for the opportunity for us to grow—together.
